(from Gloria Hardwick) Wendy asked me to write you a bit about taking out at South Cove. In short I do not recommend it. It is not a great way to end an otherwise awesome Grand Canyon trip. If you have the time spend it hiking in the canyon above Diamond. Here are just a few of the reasons why. You will be done with all the rapids after another 11 miles, leaving 60 miles to row out. There is some helpful current but not enough to overcome much upstream wind. March can be windy and warm. The camping scene will be thick brush with plenty of bugs. You will be dealing with motorized traffic from the lake. Floating at night is not recommended. There is a new rapid near Pearce Ferry. I could keep going but you get the picture. Feel free to call me if you would like to discuss this further.

Thanks,

Gloria Hardwick
