He passed away peacefully at home on January 14, 2025 after a short battle with cancer. Robert "Bubba" Vincent Bennett, age 64 of Panama City, FL was born on May 29,1960 in Hampton, SC. Bubba followed his dad's footsteps, working in construction from the age of 16 until his illness forced him to retire in 2024. Most of his time in construction was with Lord & Son Construction Company. He was part of this family for 35+ years. Bubba was married to Joann Kirkland from Panama City, and together they shared 17 years of marriage until her passing in 2022. He is survived by his sister Tammie Powell (Richard), Daughter Haley Bennett, Step Daughter Megan Schumacher, Step Son Bobby Schumacher (Sarah). Bubba was also a "Papa" to five grandchildren: Tanner, Adalyn, Cassy, Prosperity and Tytan. Uncle to Cynda St.Cere (Mark) and Hunter Bevis (Chasity). Great Uncle to Trenton, Kiley, Cooper and Chandler. When Bubba wasn't working, he was at Sauls Creek fishing or watching Nascar with a Busch beer & cigarette in hand. In the last year, while he was in and out of the hospital, he was still able to enjoy a good western book, never losing his love to read. He will always be remembered for his dedication to work, his family, and dessert. His sense of humor and presence will be greatly missed. A celebration of life will be held later this year around his birthday in May for his family and friends. |

| Notes : OBITUARY Transcribed in honor of Charles and in deepest sympathy for his family. On any given holiday, Charles V. Falkenberg, Jr, Chuck to his friends and Grumpus to his family, would survey the room filled with his 10 children, 10 in-laws (aka-Outlaws) and 26 grandchildren and would say: "Not bad, just think I'm responsible for all this!" Chuck was right, not a bad life at all. Chuck's 85 yrs on this earth came to a close Sun. the 30th of Aug. at 10:20 in the evening. He took his last breath the same way he started his married life, holding the hand of his wife of 60 yrs, Mary Ann. He was also surrounded by a majority of his 10 kids and several of their spouses. Until the very end, Chuck kept a long-standing promise - no one dies and there are no Falkenberg marriages on Notre Dame Football Weekends. What else would you expect from a guy who never missed a Fighting Irish home game over a 72-year period! Mary Ann said to her kids: "You know, I think he planned it this way - the funeral is set for Fri, Sept. 4th, Plenty of time to get ready for the home opener this Sat. against Texas! Your Dad would have it no other way!" A man focused on Family, Chuck, our very special and unique Grumpus, was a man all about the life, the life that he and his wife created, Just imagine: 10 kids (5 boys & 5 girls) and 26 grandchildren (13 boys & 13 girls), In the words of our Grumpus: "I planned it that way." He probably did! Chuck is survived by many children and grandchildren whose photos surrounded and consumed him every day of his life. A man of Uncompromised Routine. If you ever had the pleasure of dropping in on Chuck's life, there was a consistency and a routine in retirement that no one would dare break, as he laid back in his easy chair with 2 TV's on at the same time, one with sports and one with Law and Order reruns and gazillions of VHS Tapes of old Notre Dame games. Don't Forget! Dinner at the stroke of 6:00! We were blessed to learn valuable lessons from Grumpus during his 85 years: "Give to others from your heart." "Support every one of your children, no matter what." God and family come first, but Notre Dame, a close second." Friends can say goodbye and visit with Grumpus' family at the Smith Corcoran Funeral Home in Palatine, Ill. on Thurs. September 3rd at 3-9 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM. Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas of Villanova Church in Palatine on Fri, Sept. 4th at 10 AM. FUNERAL HOME: Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home 185 E. Northwest Highway Palatine, Illinois 60067 |
